About Ellingham
Who Are We?
Ellingham is a non-profit making vocational guidance training and supported employment service for people who have learning disabilities, some of whom may also have associated physical/sensory disabilities and/or mild mental health needs.
Established in 1985, initially with finances provided through contracts with the local authority to provide vocational training for a total of 25 people with learning disabilities, Ellingham Employment Services Ltd became a company limited by guarantee in 1986 and a registered charity in 1992.
Today, through the range of funding received through contracts with Local Authorities, Department of Work & Pensions (through direct JobCentre Plus funding), & through ESF co-financing through Learning Skills Councils & JobCentre Plus, Ellingham is able to provide:
- Pre-vocational training
- Work related training
- Employment opportunities
All vocational guidance and accredited training courses are individually tailored to meet the specific needs of its clients. Many of the training programmes are accredited to NVQ Entry Level - Ellingham is an accredited centre for OCR National Skills Profile & CLAIT.
Ellingham is also able to offer pensionable employment opportunities in the open labour market to people with disabilities under the Department of Works & Pensions WORKSTEP programme, as a step to progression onto unsupported employment.
Considerable work has been achieved by Ellingham on a European Portfolio with a range of transnational European links with Florence, Holland and Eire.
