Ellingham Employment Services
Ellingham are specialists in preparing & placing people with learning disabilities, many of whom may also have physical or sensory disabilities, into a range of employment opportunities throughout North East & Central London.
Ellingham Employment Services Ltd is a company limited by guarantee and registered charity, established in 1985, with finances provided through contracts with Local Authorities, Department of Work & Pensions (through direct JobCentre Plus funding), & through ESF co-financing through Learning Skills Councils & JobCentre Plus.
Considerable work has been achieved by Ellingham on a European Portfolio with a range of transnational European links with Florence, Holland and Eire.
Ellingham provides a comprehensive vocational service, including detailed evaluation and vocational assessment procedures, work experience and supported employment placement opportunities.
“The lack of knowledge as to the employment capacity of people with disabilities is the main barrier to acceptance of effective employment oppurtunities.”

Each client has valuable skills and abilities. By focusing on what they can do, rather than what they cannot, real jobs are found with employers. This not only means employment and income, but independence, a sense of self worth and the chance to live their lives as integrated members of society.
The objectives of Ellingham are:
- To provide a comprehensive work experience, employment placements and support service to people who have a learning disability and those who are socially disadvantaged long-term unemployed in East London.
- To provide an advisory & consultancy service to clients, staff or relevant training establishments and professionals with emphasis on all types of vocational and employment opportunities/initiatives.
- To provide individuals with work-related social skills into part-time/full-time, short or long-term meaningful employment.
- To prepare people who have a learning disability or those who are socially disadvantaged long-term unemployed, for a realistic work environment.
- To explore new employment initiatives.
- To encourage the development of community facilities where and as appropriate.
- To develop closer links and dialogue with industry & commerce.
- Advise and support employers in order to encourage them to employ people with disabilities and those who are socially disadvantaged.
- To use up-to-date techniques in vocational guidance.
