Ellingham Employment Services was given national exposure this week in a feature on the BBC 1 Saints and Scroungers TV show.
Ellingham was cited as an example of a “Saint” for the work we do in progressing long term unemployed people with learning disabilities off benefits and into paid employment, and the positive impact this has on their lives.

In particular the show highlighted the story of Damien Charlery, his struggle to find a job, and the support he received from Ellingham to achieve his dream of paid work. Thanks to Ellingham’s support, Damien is now working for 21 hours a week at Homebase and is living independently with his wife and new baby son!

If you would like to view the show it is available to watch via BBC iPlayer HERE!
Ellingham held special event on Wednesday 16th November to celebrate the notable achievements of our clients who have successfully achieved a range of accredited qualifications this year.

The event was hosted by His worshipful The Mayor Cllr. Geoff Walker and took place Waltham Forest Council Chamber. Cllr Walker is an active supporter of local charities such as Ellingham, sharing a belief in assisting less fortunate citizens and a commitment to making The London Borough of Waltham Forest a place to be proud of.

Ellingham’s continuing hard work and commitment to assisting those furthest away from employment often goes under the radar, so this event is a great opportunity to raise the profile of the good work we are doing in the borough and beyond.
Ellingham is due to be featured in a forthcoming BBC television show set to air in the New Year.
A team from Flame TV, one of the UK’s leading independent television production companies visited our Head Office last week to film for series 3 of the BBC's popular documentary series Saints & Scroungers.

The programme will focus on the good work Ellingham is doing to assist disabled benefit claimants off benefits and into paid work and looks at the positive effect this has on their lives. We look forward to seeing the finished programme - watch this space for more information!
In 10 months since the Work Choice programme started, Ellingham have far exceeded our allocated quota of participants. Whereas our contract required us to work with 111 new clients, we have actually worked with 145. This is in addition to 124 Transition Clients.
28 of our clients have so far accessed paid jobs of 16 hours per week or more. All of these jobs were secured by Ellingham’s employment team who have worked extremely hard to set up work placements and work trials for their clients. The team then closely monitor and support them, working with employers to convert these placements into sustained employment.
Currently these figures contribute to this CPA area ranking as the 4th most successful Work Choice area in the entire country!
