Ellingham Programmes

Programme Introduction

The key to Ellingham Employment Services' success is that within each programme framework, courses have been devised that are modular in format, with each module covering many skill levels. This allows Ellingham's specialist staff to tailor the course to the individual. It also enables client's progress by developing and enhancing skill within each module.

In order to create this individualised programme, assessment is undertaken by our specialist staff in order to ascertain the most appropriate levels within each modular course for the client to follow. This means that clients are able to work at differing skills levels within each of the modules according to need, e.g. level 1 in IT module, but level 3 in a Communication module, but within the same training course.

It is recommended that each client attend Ellingham Employment Services for the initial Overall Assessment package prior to commencing other programmes. This period is used for staff to assess, and gain knowledge of, the client and for the client to assess whether they wish to continue onto further training courses run by Ellingham Employment Services.

On the whole, Ellingham operates a rolling programme of course. Clients are able to commence in negotiation with the staff team concerned. The duration of most courses is based on the individual clients leaving abilities (on-going assessment of progress is undertaken by staff and clients with reports being available for referring agencies).

However, some training courses are tied to specific areas of funding and are therefore governed by the requirements of the funders, e.g. JobCentre Plus, European Social Fund. Where a client is attending such a course, specific time scales & requirements have to be adhered to. In this instance, the assessment process forms an integral part of the course.

The concept of Ellingham is progression to enable each client to participate and learn at his or her individual level. Client choice is vital, yet we do not set clients up to fail. The ethos of Ellingham Employment Services is that of honesty to all concerned. Therefore our specialist staff, in consultation with the clients, do not set unrealistic goals.
