Neurodiversity Training

Neurodiversity awareness makes business sense

Neurodiversity is the diversity of human brains and minds.

Many large corporates are embracing neurodiversity and believe that it’s just as critical to business success as gender or racial diversity in the labour force.

Neurodiversity is an umbrella term referring to a group of neurological development disorders which share common features, in particular differences in how people learn and process information. Definitions vary, but we use the term to refer to:

  • dyslexia and dyscalculia
  • dyspraxia,
  • dyscalculia and developmental coordination disorder
  • Attention Deficit Disorders (ADD/ADHD) and
  • Autistic Spectrum (Autism / Asperger’s syndrome).

Benefits of a neurodiverse workforce

With appropriate support it is possible to be highly successful and many people find niches in which they can flourish.

Thankfully, some large employers such as GCHQ and Microsoft see this diversity as business critical and now actively recruit neurodiverse people for their strengths. Innovative thinking is a valuable asset and workplaces can be adapted to help make the most of these unique skills.
